Lots of windscreen scraping. Bournmouth and Southampton Airports effectively report the open country situation (i.e. few people experience it) but here in a suburban back garden a few miles East of Southampton, it was a bit warmer: 3.3c minimum. Southampton/Eastleigh is slightly more urban than Bournmouth/Hurn - but not as urban as me. Guildford is, I'd guess, about the same as me and I'd guess Chalfont St Giles is less urban... but it's only a guess. -- Dave Fareham (West) |

Overnight min (Thu/Fri) was +0.8C in Romsey with our first
visible ground frost of the autumn. Despite this, our roses are still blooming nicely a day later (Sat). Could they be a new type of frost-resistant rose? Nigel. Could they be a new type of frost-resistant rose? Gardening hat on! A ground frost shouldn't harm plants flowering as high on the stem as roses do - we have 3 rose plants blooming well here in Warwickshire, even after grass mins of -3.3C in October - they seem to be surviving the damp too! -- Steve Jackson Bablake Weather Station Coventry www.nelink.co.uk/users/bws |
