Karel reports seeing 12 cm snow there and 15 to 18 cm at higher levels. Snow at low levels in Germany south of a line from the Ruhr to the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains). Large parts of southern Germany had a snow cover on Wednesday morning. Chemnitz and Lüdenscheid had over 10 cm. According to the daily report from the Free University of Berlin, the Fichtelberg in the Erzgebirge range had 51 cm snow cover - more than the 50 cm reported on the Zugspitze in the Alps http://www.met.fu-berlin.de/deutsch/...etterlage.html Snow in the far east of Belgium in the areas of Wirtzfeld and Elsenborn in the Hautes Fagnes - 8 to 10 cm.
