Hi Tom, do you mean in this spell? I've only got 0.6C at 18.40 here in the
south of the county.

It's very rare that the temperature goes below freezing here, I guess
because of the closeness of the Sea. Normally cools down quick early evening
but never quite goes sub-zero. Last time it was subzero before dusk was 25th
Dec 2001 or 2002 IIRC.

Current temperatures from around the county (19:20)

Danbury: -0.4C
Epping: 0.0C
Colchester: 0.4C
Witham: 0.8C
Benfleet: 0.9C
Southend: 1.1C
Mayland: 1.3C
Wickford: 1.5C

The water on the cars keeps freezing but the water on the ground doesn't

Ground temp is +0.1C here at the moment, will be icy in the morning. And
it's starting to snow again.

Without sounding too much like an fogey it used to frequently hit low minus
figures by 7.00pm. I can remember a number of bonfire nights like that. Even
after dark in October. Not often any more though, I agree. Also I don't go
along with March having too much sun heat for the snow to settle. Given
colder ground it will, and once it has stuck it will take more shifting.
Just one night of -6C will do it! Anyway fingers crossed for you tonight
Tom, especially if you missed last nights thunder snow
