Default Travel advice from Sheffield - Nottingham 23rd Feb '05 - late

We would like to go to an event in Nottingham this evening so I have
been glued to the weather trying to figure out if we would be foolish to
travel.

Would anybody please be kind enough to offer their opinion of travelling
down the M1 from Sheffield to Nottingham at 8.00pm and returning
Midnight approx.

According to the lunchtime forecast on Look North then no but the
forecast on BBC1 lunchtime news seems to be a yes!

TIA

The train is fine from Manchester to Nottingham, as confirmed by my sister
currently whizzing past Dore back to Nottingham. Seeing as it's the M1 all
the way then I'd say it would be fine, or are you thinking of taking the
Dronfield bypass ? Either way they will be gritted and not much is settling
at the moment.

Hiya Joe,

Thanks for the reply... We would access the M1 via junction 30 and get
off at junction 26 heading for West Bridgeford. I realise the M1 would
be okay - just how bad is the snow likely to be later when we wish to
access roads that are unlikely to be gritted.

Nothing in Nottingham at present. A couple of light showers that have
melted immediately is all we have had since this morning.
