Drove from Carlisle to East Yorkshire this afternoon. Dep Carlisle 11.30,
Scotch Corner 1300, Garrowby Hill (A166 York-Bridlington)1430. A dusting in Carlisle full cover of snow from Appleby. Drifting snow across road at Stainforth/Bowes Moor, with 4-6 inches level snow on moors and 1.5 metres drifts. Down to 2 inches of snow at Scotch Corner, no snow in sight near A1 Ripon/Thirsk areas. Next full cover was the approach to Garrowby Hill A 166, with level 4-6 inches and 4-6 ft drifts. Frequent heavy snow showers here (Kirkburn, Driffield, east Yorkshire 70 ft amsl past 2 hours but no fresh accumulations yet) |
