![]() Anyhow, it looks like the storms have largely cleared my area, currently on 19.2C and will probably just about reach again the max of 21.0C I recorded in some hazy sunshine this morning at around 9 O'clock before the thunder arrived. Col -- Bolton, Lancashire. 160m asl. http://www.reddwarfer.btinternet.co.uk Hey col , something is worrying me about the record temps, there is a batch of heavy showers moving out of france. This could destroy the record hopes if it comes across which it seems to be doing! |

At this rate the 37.1C record will be absolutely shattered. 40C anyone?? Of course I'm joking there's no way we are suddenly going to put a whole 3C onto the record, but I guess 38C is possible. However the really hot air is currently being squeezed into an ever decreasing area in the south and east and what with all the storms about even some overspill cloud development in the SE at the wrong time would be enough to take a couple of degrees of what might have been. I wonder what temperature needs to be reached in the SE for some homegrown cells to develop? Relative humidities seem quite low however. Completely clear here in SW London, although a light breeze has developed. Cheers Richard |

Looking at the speed of movement NE the Channel cells, London should have at least 2 or 3 hours grace before they arrive. Here on the Solent coastline, there's absolutely *no* cloud development whatsoever as at 12:40 BST. With London City airport reporting 35C at 12:20 BST, and several others at 34C, I think the record will go. It's a mere 30 C here at the moment, light SE wind and completely cloudless. -- Dave Fareham. |
