Temperature here is now (2030z) 3.2c with slight rain. Maximum rainfall rate was 34 mm/hr at about 2005z i.e. about 10 minutes after the cold surface air arrived. Looks like the gritters will need to be busy when the precipitation stops. Norman. (delete "thisbit" twice to e-mail) -- Norman Lynagh Weather Consultancy Chalfont St Giles England |

![]() "Mike Tullett" wrote in message ... Those were the temps at 1950Z accroding to xcweather. I was walking in the rain when the cold front came through. The most noticeable thing, apart from the intensity of the rain, was the sudden icy blast coming out of the north following a day of negligible wind. There seemed to have been a narrow warm sector which took the temperature up to 9ºC for less than two hours up to 1900Z; by 1945 it was 3ºC, and at 2000Z it was 1ºC and snowing heavily. The snow soon eased, but continued gently till about 2215Z, leaving 1cm on grass, cars, and roofs. Most surprising of all was the fact that 33.2mm of rain fell in 16 hours to 2200Z with 30.6mm since 0900Z ... the biggest November fall in a "rainfall day" here since 17th in 1974, with only three bigger ones in the last 100 years (assuming no more overnight). The lake in Wardown Park is in flood. Philip Eden |
