Default (WR) My Summary for Newbury, Berkshire - this weeks action!!!

Brief summary of events in Newbury, Berkshire Saturday 19th to Saturday 26th
February 2005

Well, there's not been too much to report in the way of hard frosts or snow
depth wise but still remarkable in some ways.

February 19th - snow showers locally, quite violent squally type producing
whiteout conditions and lying snow at 6.30am
February 20th - snow noted falling just prior to 3pm after -2.1c air frost
in early hours
February 21st - light snow seen falling at some point during the day
(unknown time) 3.4c max after -0.7c air frost in early hours
February 22nd - snow seen falling and settled well prior to 7am quite heavy
in constitution but mainly wet flakes, 3.4c max again after -0.3c air frost
in early hours - 1.5mm rainfall equivalent measured at 9am
February 23rd - snow seen falling at some point during the day, 2.7c max
after -0.7c air frost in early hours
February 24th - snow seen falling on and off all day, good accumulations on
the downs but did not settle at my location as was also sleety at times, no
air frost but only 2.0c max and rainfall equivalent of 2.5mm was measured
February 25th - snow seen falling particularly in the morning, 2.2c max
after -2.0c air frost in early hours, trace rainfall equivalent measured at
9am

Finally today February 26th - snow then sleet/rain in early hours between 4
and 6am ish (yes, I was up then) 4.2c max after -0.7c air frost in early
hours, 1mm rainfall equivalent

All in all that is 8 (EIGHT) snow seen falling days in a row. Just a very
few snow laying hours and notably, a rapid thaw of lying snow up on the
downs as there was no sunshine.

Any other summaries out there?

Wintry Regards

Tony Powell
