Where would I find photographs of the 62 / 63 winter? My late father was
involved in one of the first helicopter rescues in Aberdeenshire - he was
stranded in a remote distillery managers house for 3 days :-)

My memory of the 62/63 winter was that after the initial falls of snow it
was dry a lot of the time but with a persistent NE to E wind off the
continent and temperatures remained close to freezing during the day. It had
a devastaing effect on bird populations which took a number of years to
recover.
