Just heard from a lecturer who has tried to get home but given up after
spending an hour trying to drive off campus. If there's no let-up in the snow (about 2 or 3 inches here so far), then it could become very tough for people to actually get home. -- Jonathan Stott Canterbury Weather: http://www.canterburyweather.co.uk/ |

I saw the BBC national forecast after the news (13:30 ish), and they seemed
absolutely clueless as usual. Temperatures of 5 degrees were forecast for today in the SE . All the forecasts seem to be going with snow for the SE this afternoon and tonight. *Where* is this coming from? The snow this morning, and now to a lesser extent, was obviously a feature of the low pressure which is moving steadily but surely south. Are there meant to be showers developing? It seems an extremely brave forecast to me, or just a cover up one. I get the feeling the TV companies are making a mockery of the METO or the other way round? Lost, as usual! ----------------------------------------------------------- "Jonathan Stott" wrote in message ... Jonathan I drove through Thorndon Wood to Herne Bay from Canterbury and as you say the roads are awful. Many businesses closed early afternoon today and apparently all bus services have been suspended. If this snow continues into the night, tomorrow morning will be very interesting! If this snow continues into the night, tomorrow morning will be very interesting! Mark Chamberlain Herne Bay, Kent I just walked home and it was the most unpleasant 30 minutes for quite a long time. Bitterly cold wind, snow blown horizontally, roads and paths covered in a mix of 2" of snow and 2" of wet slushy mess which makes for an extremely slippery surface. The temperature is dropping (0.4°C at 1830Z) so possibility of everything freezing. Tomorrow does not look promising at all :-/ -- Jonathan Stott Canterbury Weather: http://www.canterburyweather.co.uk/ |
