I'm getting the picture of an arctic ice field with waves of snow endlessly blowing across, is this right? Near enough. In fact that's a good description of where Dave Liquorice lives! I guess so, even the tops of the grass tussucks have disappeared under the blanket of white now. Though the shots you see on TV of lazily winding streams across arctic snow fields belie their true nature. Spin drift isn't very nice, it's not to bad in a F4 but ramp that up to F6 or above and it hurts, partly from the impact of small hard, sharp, particles but also from the wind chill as you get soaked. Temp just below 0C with an F6 produces -15 to -20 or lower wind chill. The damn stuff will also penetrate the tiniest hole, see the last photo on the 24th Feb on my site. Previous winters I've taken more than half a dozen buckets full of snow out of the roof space... (Hum, I should go and check but we have had the roofs stripped and relined since then). -- Cheers Dave. pam is missing e-mail |
