Default Leaves still on trees

Question from a layman.

After the storm of October 1987 much was said about the damage to trees
being bad due to the fact that they were still in leaf.

It is now the end of November and there are still lots of leaves on the
trees here in Sussex.

Is the fall of leaves gradually getting later?

Thought from the experts?

you can choose the species and event (in this case leaf fall) etc., and
see trends.

From my experience over 50-odd years, then I would say that leaf-fall
(deciduous) trees is getting later here in the Thames Valley.

As I recall the leaves on a good many trees started turning brown in late
September. I think they are only clinging to the trees now because of the
lack of wind over the last month. We've had anticyclonic gloom since the
end of October. October's CET was spot on average and November's looks like
being almost the same.

.... that is the trouble with wide-area series like the CET, they don't
describe the local/regional conditions very well: here, our October 24hr
average was +0.8, and this month we are running above +1.0degC

Yes, it's been on the mild side here as well, though no where near the
mildest.

Leaves fell on most trees around this area earlier than any year in the last 5.
