Default [WR] Dartmoor tundra (6/3/05)

================================================== ==================
This posting expresses the personal view and opinions of the author.
Something which everyone on this planet should be able to do.
================================================== ==================

Lovely sunny day up here on the tundra. went for a 14 mile walk high up on the
moor round Princetown. Moor is frozen solid above 400m and stayed so all day
despite sunshine. Round North Hessary Tor (515m asl) 2-3 foot snow drifts along
a wall and by the road near Princetown 2 foot drifts with patches snow in the
town and in the long grass. Grass is yellow and drying quickly. Very little snow
left elsewhere.

1800 Haytor

Temp 0.3 deg C
Dewpoint -7 deg C
Wind NW 2 knots
Weather - clear
Bar 1031.9 hPa - rising

Day max. 4.3 deg C
Night min. -1.9 deg C
Ground frozen

Earth temps:

60 cm 3.2
30 cm 2.9
10 cm 1.3
1 cm -0.4 deg C

All plants stopped growing over a week ago and grass wearing out due to no
growth.
I had my first daffodil open last year on the 6th, still no sign this year !

From the frozen and bitterly cold Dartmoor tundra,

Will.
