Monday, 28 March 2005
BRACKNELL (TF)
0900 VRB F2 5000 BR 1/CU T085D070
RMK: The Cumulus very ragged - looks like it could have been formed
from lifted / clearing fog from elsewhere; Also present are 2 oktas Ci -
thin/high ~ 30000ft; Wind favouring a northerly point overall. A
glorious morning, with the strong sunshine now feeling quite powerful,
despite the high haze element in the atmosphere.
[ OVERNIGHT DATA (18Z - 09Z):
screen min: 04.4 grass min: 01.7 precipitation: NIL
other data: Misty overnight; less than 3000M up to about 07Z - possibly
a short period of fog in the early hours. ]=
1200 NNE F2-3 15km - 1/CU T126D073
RMK: Total cloud cover 3 oktas: in addition, there are 2 oktas thin Sc,
1 okta Ac, and 2 oktas Ci. A fine day - the sun feels warm, with little
wind to spoil things.=
1500 VRB F2 18km - 2/CU 6/SC T141D064
RMK: Cu rather stunted - the Sc somewhat thicker thatn previous, but
high and allowing insolation in the main. A pleasantly warm, bright
spring afternoon.=

1800 NNE F2-3 15km - 1/CU 4/SC 7/SC T135D055
RMK: The Cu looks to be mediocris but as it is hidden by both the Sc
and a rather hazy atmosphere, it's not easy to tell. The lower layer of
Sc is ex-Cu; the upper layer of Sc is around 6000ft, and there may be
some Ac above that.
[ DAYTIME DATA (09Z - 18Z):
screen max: 14.6 precipitation: NIL
other data: Hard/paved surfaces dry; soil surfaces partial drying on
top. There appears to be a little pocket of dry (low dew-point) air in
the lower Thames Valley atm. ]=
