Default Quick model interpretation (3/04/05)

Due to the clocks changing I'll be leaving an hour earlier for the wolves
today, so here's a quick summary rather than the usual rundown.

Quick summary - isssed 0530z 3/04/05

A northerly blast looks likely to end the working week, but I suspect the
GFS is overdoing it! It will be cool pretty much everywhere although the
signs are over the weekend the winds will back NW'ly then westerly, which
should allow temperatures to recover.

ECM: http://64.246.48.81/pics/Recm1201.gif
The ECM shows northerlies for T+120 with a high to the west and a low to the
NE. The winds become NW'lies then westerlies by T+168 as the high to the
west sinks SE'wards.
MetO: http://64.246.48.81/pics/Rukm1441.gif
The METO run places low pressure over southern Scotland, bringing wet and
windy weather across the UK. As the low moves away at T+144 it pulls
NNW'lies across the UK.
GFS: http://64.246.48.81/pics/Rtavn1201.gif
Cold northerlies cover the UK due to a high to the west extending southwards
from Greenland. 850hPa temperatures are from -11C over NW Scotland to -4C
over Cornwall, with sub 528dam air for all and sub 510dam for NW Scotland. A
secondary low trundles southwards over the UK at T+144 with northerlies and
NW'lies, followed by westerlies as a ridge topples over the UK on day 7.
GEM: http://64.246.48.81/pics/Rgem1201.gif
A trough covers SE England with northerlies for all. The winds become
NW'lies as a ridge topples over the UK at T+144, followed by westerlies on
day 7.
DWD: http://www.wetter.com/home/img/sat/g...030000_120.gif
The German run shows strong northerlies, again with a high to the west and a
low to the NE. The winds become northerlies and NW'lies at T+144 as a
secondary low spawns over the North Sea. By T+168 it moves NE'wards, with
lighter NNW'lies and NW'lies for the UK.
