Default USB to Serial / WeatherLink?

I have just received my USB to Serial Converter cable but it appears to be
USB V 1.1 complient and supports Windows 98/2000 & ME. I did put the CD in
that contains the drivers but it warned me that it may damage or destablise
my current system, probably because it's USB 2.0.

I'm going to just try plugging the 9-way D into the converter and see what
happens, but before I do this I wonder if anyone could advise me of what I
should or should not do?

Many thanks in anticipation.

If you've got WinXP, make sure you set a system restore point before you
plug it in!

I use these devices all the time on XP, some don't have Windows
certification but all have worked up until now!

Go to the 'help and support centre' (from start) and search for system
restore - you'll find a link to the wizard there....
