Default [WR] Hailstorm, mid Devon

Very heavy hail and rain over Haldon Hill (A38 between Exeter and Chudleigh)
at 1615BST. It was falling so hard that there was an icy layer on the road
and quite white patches in among the grass. Temperature fell from 10.5 in
Exeter to 3.5C as we reached the top of the hill. Never seen anything quite
like that.
I'm sure Will will verify this for you all shortly. I know he saw it because
he was driving the car and there wasn't a lot else to see!
My rain gauge is about 10 miles from there and it's peak rain rate this
afternoon was 6mm/hr between 1515 and 1530BST.

Hailing hard again here.
Seems to have blocked the gauge with ice as it's not reading much at the
moment.
