![]() ================================================== =============== This forecast summary is my *PERSONAL OPINION* of how the weather may unfold next week. I will take no responsibility whatsoever for any actions arising from its use. It is provided freely in the spirit of freedom and the great love for meteorology that I personally enjoy and wish to share freely with others. ================================================== =============== Summary valid for Sunday 01/05/05 to Saturday 07/05/05 TOI (time of issue) Friday 29/04/05 2130 UK local time This summary is based on a quick appraisal of the GFS, JMA, ECMWF, UKMO, FAX, and ENS (NCEP ensemble) labelled charts available from the superb http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten High confidence that the week will start warm and unsettled with a moderate chance of becoming fine and settled and a bit cooler after midweek. Low confidence in any detail. On Sunday Scotland and northern Ireland look like being wet with heavy rain at times. Shetland drier. Temperatures near normal. Over England and Wales the day should start bright but with fog on the south coast. However, showers will soon get going in the southwest and then heavy, slow moving showers with torrential downpours accompanied by thunder will break out elsewhere. Some places could stay dry. Generally warm and muggy. On Monday all parts will see showers at some time during the day, some very slow moving and heavy with still a chance of thunder. Still misty and foggy on the south coast. Sunny intervals inland. On Tuesday, another showery day is likely and turning cooler with a bit more wind. Misty conditions on coasts will clear as winds turn northwesterly and freshen. On Wednesday a fresh northwesterly airflow is likely to bring a bright and breezy clear day to many places but still with showers, especially in the afternoon where some could turn heavy and thundery in the south. Temperatures slightly below normal but accompanied by warm sunshine. During the rest of the week high pressure looks like building in from the west bringing lighter winds and clear and mainly sunny days with only a few showers in places. Temperatures around normal but slowly turning warmer again. Possibility of some light rain getting into northwest Scotland by the weekend.
