Default Thunder 2339 hrs - Dorset

A considerable amount of thunder and quite a lot of lightning has
suddenly appeared due south of me here close to Dorchester. A very
bizarre situation- not a lot on the radar. Very heavy rain just
started. Thunder every 20 seconds or so....

Similar report to others here in Luton. Frequent, almost continuous
CC lightning, 3 or 4 cells visible at any one time, three CG strokes
from the first cell just after 0200z, single strokes, very bright,
producing very loud low-frequency thunder (i.e. bone-rattling).
A couple of brief bursts of mod-heavy rain, all over by 0300z.
As others have said, best display for a long time.

I switched the PC off at 23.20 last night, and I thought up until that point
there were no spherics showing.
Having looked at my last UK map generated at 23.15hrs, there was indeed one
spot of spherics over Torbay.
Presumably this is where it all started - and looks as though it tracked
something like 060 degs across England.
That cell seems to have raced off towards Denmark, but there are new cells
forming now over the Scottish Borders.
