The minimum last night here in Coulsdon of 14.2C has only once been exceeded
in the whole of May since my station was established in 1979 and that was May 2000. However this was a mid month occasion with 15.0C so to have one's second highest value on the 1st covering a period of over a quarter of a century is quite remarkable. This follows on from yesterday's record breaking April minimum. However in 1922, Addington an official station about 4 miles to the north east of Coulsdon, recorded a minimum of 18.3C on the 22nd at a time when day maxima were around 32C across London. Last night's min was significant in that it was so early for such high values. Also heard a peal of thunder at 09.00hrs this morning. Yesterday was my first view of the thundery castellanus cloud which is very often followed by thunder within 24 hours. Ian Currie-Coulsdon www.frostedearth.com |

Ian, your minimum is higher than my present temperature at 1230 of 12.7 deg C!
Might make 15 deg C here if the sun comes out. Will. -- " Stuff the thought police, we don't care anymore, we are free, I am me! Ian Currie-Coulsdon www.frostedearth.com I've beaten you this time, Ian, with 14.6°C here in Warlingham. May record is 15.3°C on 16/5/00. It's already been up to 23.0°C here but a splash of rain from Ac has brought it down to about 19°C. Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey, 556 ft. |

Minimum of 14.8C here in Worcester at 7:36 am. It is certainly my highest
May minimum for many a year, and it occurred at the beginning. If it had occurred 24 hours earlier (i.e., April 30th) it would have smashed my April minimum high by a mile! This year so far has set many new minimum high records but strangely no maximum high records. _______________ Nick G Worcester 45 amsl http://www.worcesterweather.co.uk "Tudor Hughes" wrote in message oups.com...
