It's much, much quicker since they introduced that Beta thing
(which
I'm slowly coming to appreciate, even though the reply/quoting
mechanism is a mess and those stars everywhere hurt my eyes);
before
you could wait 6 hours to see posts- not good for discussions.

Unfortunately the old style -now gone, used to allow you to view 100
thread titles on one page.

Why did they lose that idea?

I was going to say you can still see it like that on google.co.uk, but
I've just tried and don't seem to be able to any more. Anyway since
about December you haven't been able to reply to posts on that.

Try clicking on "View Titles only" you get something reasonably
similar, although still you have to click "view options" to quote text.
