![]() In places above about 800' snow is beginning to accumulate. Reports from the Gwent area speak of heavy snow on the heads of the valleys region. Even here on the S. coast of Wales the temperature has been steadily dropping and is now down to 5 degrees C. Looks like an interesting night for you Howard! Cheers, James -- James Brown |

Not yet here at 860 ft, although the rain is on the turn I think with temp dropping from 3.8C to 1.6C between 8pm and 10pm. Now at 1.7C. Adrian (12 miels ESE Aberystwyth, 860ft/260m asl) Thanks for that Adrian - The Brnymawr region is particularly badly hit as usual being over the 1000' level, but lower down at Abertillery snow is settling. It's the first range of hills an easterly wind hits and there seems to be an orographic effect. Now down to 4.6 here on the coast. James -- James Brown |

The wind went round to NE a few hours ago but he temperature has been very slow in falling. It is currently 2.5C and it is raining quite hard, presently shown as 6mm per hour. On reading your post, I went outside to see if there was any sign of the rain changing state but it is still definitely rain. If (when?) it changes to snow there will be quite a depth if the precipitation stays at its current level. -- Howard Neil (western end of the Brecon Beacons National Park, at 235 metres asl) |

Now snowing hard (11:30pm) - temp 1.0C. Not settling yet. Congratulations to the forecasters who predicted this days ago! No snow at all at my level and the Black Mountain only has a very light peppering of snow at the to (from about 1500ft). Minimum temperature overnight was 0.5C. -- Howard Neil |
