Default BBC hits rock bottom

I arrived home from the office at about 18.45, looking forward to seeing the
widely publicised, "new look" forecasts. Suffered soccer-relegation
miseries on BBC TV South and then (lo and behold!) on came one of the
weather "presenters" to show off her new-style pictures. Unfortunately in
the few seconds available she bombarded us with multi-coloured graphics
indicating firstly recent cloud movements and (separately!) rainfall, then
forecast cloud movements and rainfall, then the forecast temperatures and
also, briefly (too briefly to note down), high tide times at various places
along the South Coast.

All in all, completely confusing and I finished up overwhelmed with
information and having no idea at all what the weather will bring us over
the next few days.

Better surely from Darren Bett at 18.57, or so I thought. So I suffered
adverts, then a news summary, then more adverts, and then... the first
entertainment programme of the evening came on. No explanation, even less
an apology, for the cancellation of the main early evening national weather
forecast.

Apart from what I have just written, I am speechless

Regards, Roger

Totally agree. I struggled to follow it. My wife was totally bemused, gave
up, and asked me what the forecast was. No synoptic charts, and it was not
even accurate!. It's supposed to be cloudy here now, it's virtually
cloudless, after a glorious day with a max of 18.1 degrees. (After my second
coldest May day on record last Saturday)

The biggest improvement would be for the presenter to stand on the right
hand side. Then we might actually get to see Cornwall. Of course Kent might
be hidden, but I don't care.

Ah but did you notice the area covered by the SW Peninsula was just about
the same as that far flung land of Scotland. It must be a new magic map
projection that can achieve that:-) Mark 2 Mercator - reversed?

It's interesting too see that most of the comments on the BBC website are
negative.

I imagine someone's head is on the line for approving the budget for this
system - it couldn't have been cheap. Thus, I think they'll stick with it
(for now at least).
