Thanks for the feedback, although I think the rather strong use of
"Universally hated" is perhaps a little strong, I think that perhaps we are looking at something that is a lot different to what the BBC has been doing in the last 50 years. I agree entirely with what you say about the use of new technology and using it to fit the requirement, but I also think that in this case, it is a surprise to the viewer, but it will soon settle down and once people actually understand what the forecasts are saying, they will be more than happy. Interestingly, the comments that are coming back are almost all about the color of the map, the position of the camera angle, the motion that has been introduced, the loss of the symbols, etc, etc. The most important thing to note is that the positives are all mentioning the fact that it actually tells people what the weather is doing where they live. Now there's a change for you! I too am of the former Met Office variety, I did 16 years and I am glad to be where I am now! Thanks for the feedback. Peter Hollingsworth Metra.info FEEDBACK: I was wondering how you see the use that the BBC/UKMO has made of your software, it is almost universally hated, the only people who like it are the BBC weather dept who introduced it and so have to show a little enthusiasm, there are motions in Parliament about the size and position of Scotland, making it hard to read what the weather is going to be there, the UK also seems to have been covered in brown wrapping paper. It is hated by pretty much everyone, it may be a techno advance but just because things can be done doesn't mean that they should, this is a case in point. Still I suppose that the NZ Meto has to get some revenge for the beating that the Lions are going to inflict on the All Blacks! Oh and I'm an ex UKMO employee! |

Now there's a change for you! Being of the testosterone fuelled, long armed variety of the species, I already know what the bloody weather is doing where I live. I am not that particularly interesteed in what it is doing elsewhere. I want to know what the weather fronts are and what the forecast is. It is supposed to be a forecast after all? -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |
