somewhere
in Scotland this week. I'm amazed at that report. On Sunday here (central southern England) it was sunny, but decidedly cold, no more than 15c I would say. Much of Britain failed to pass 21 until early-July in 1972. Was that early summer as awful as it sounds, or did it just have a lot of pleasant, dry, but not particularly warm anticyclonic northerlies? Nick |

Seems you're easily getting the most exciting weather in the UK this
year :-) Does Kent have a significantly better (colder in winter, warmer in summer) climate than further west along the south coast? I guess northeasterlies must be a problem in summer. Nick |

Re the distinction between Salisbury and the south coast, I noticed
that on May 2nd. I went inland to just west of Salisbury (Dinton) and there I estimated about 21c while in Southampton I'd have guessed about 18c. That said, there was a sudden drop in temperature about 4pm even there - though it wasn't associated with any obvious front. Nick |
