What a superb image - one to be kept! You can see all the S. Wales
valleys so clearly, and see how the higher regions got their several
inches last night.

Thanks Jonathan

Just amazing

I can just make out my Stevenson Screen in the garden if I get nearer the
screen..

It also reminds me of the many snowless winters in Stirling (

It is, indeed, a superb image. The white part of the Western end of the
Brecon Beacons looks a little like a pig's head. I am just in the green
bit to the north of the pig's snout. The snow just missed me but at
least I can see it out of the windows.

Never before has a web page caused me so much grief. This one crashed my X
server. Did anyone else have such problems?

Adrian

It is a huge image and requires about 140 MB of RAM just to show the image
as the jpeg is uncompressed. I have looked at the earlier 11.30 Terra
image and cropped out the important bit. There is a large(ish) thumbnail
on this page (about 110 KB) and it leads to an enhanced image of about 2.2
MB

Hi Adrian

Yes me too. My ADSL router gave up while trying to access this photo. I
thought that it was just a fluke signal drop, but I guess it was the site.

Any ideas why?

Yup. First try broke up in streaks, then tried lower resolution which
timed out several times. Tried again just now and got zilch. Then it
started behaving, have the 500M resolution image now.

Perhaps people posting links to images that are very large could
remember to include a warning that they are only suitable for those with
broadband. Not that that was what was causing Adrian's problem, but had
I tried to download the image using my dial-up connection I wouldn't
have got very far.
