Default Royal Meteorological Society, Weather Weekend

Press Release

Do you want to learn about the British weather or become the next
Michael Fish?

Now is your chance! The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) will be
hosting and subsidising the most affordable educational residential
weather themed weekend ever! Two days packed full of hands-on
activities and talks, and located in one of the wettest places in
England!

Taking place on Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th September 2005, and costing
only £85 per adult and just over £45 per child, full board and all
activities. The Youth Hostels Association (YHA) Borrowdale hostel will
host this major event, nestled in the mountains of the Lake District.

The weekend will be suitable for all, especially families and
enthusiasts. Bookings are now being taken, and places are expected to
go fast. Discounts are available for those using public transport; and
YHA and RMetS members can claim extra substantial discounts too.

The weekend is being presented by Met Office forecaster Karl
Shepherdson BSc FRMetS. Karl is based at the Weather Centre in
Manchester. Topics covered will include weather forecasting,
observations and instruments.

A mini-Met Office will be specially installed at the hostel for the
weekend, and participants will occasionally link up with the Met
Office, for daily briefings, latest weather data and chats to the duty
forecasters.

Further details are available from the Royal Meteorological Society:

It's funny, but in language the use of OR is generally the exclusive OR.
That's how I read this the first time. I assume it was meant to be the
inclusive OR, of course!
