Having spent most of the day in Hampshire, where it rained for most of the
morning, I have just returned home to find, to my dismay, the garden looking
as dry as ever. The raingauge showed that 2.0mm fell this morning bringing
the month's total to 7.1mm. Will Sunday produce any showers or storms, I
wonder. I am not too hopeful.

And well done Peter for pointing out several days ago that you thought it
would be fairly meagre.
I visited Weir Wood Reservoir,Sussex, yesterday for Weather eye magazine and
very interesting it was too being less than 50 percent full. Today's rain
was evaporated within an hour or so of the sun coming out and by the fresh
breeze. Its impact in the Southeast on topping up ground water, filling
reservoirs or slaking the thirst of anything other than the most shallow
rooted of plants was negligible.
