Does anyone know of URL's for any simplified climate models that can be
run on a PC?

It depends what kind of climate model you want! They are all described in
this book with examples that can be run from a PC contained on the
accompanying CD ROM.
A Climate Modelling Primer
Kendal McGuffie, Ann Henderson-Sellers
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...349960-0319856

If you want a GCM then there is the version at ClimatePrediction.net
http://www.climateprediction.net/
That site has information about climate modelling as well as climate models
you can run.

The source code for several GCMs is available, but I doubt you want the bother
of that.

If you want to play with simpler models, this seems to be the page to go to;
http://www.geo.utexas.edu/courses/38...ate_models.htm
They also reference McG & H-S too.

HTH,

Cheers, Alastair.

I wonder if Andrew Lane has booked in for this yet:

http://www.climateprediction.net/openu/index.php

It might be worth joining just to see.

The simple EBM (/energy Balanc Model) I would recommend is this one;
http://www.worc.ac.uk/LTMain/Rowland...LS/1dmodel.htm
It is described here;
http://www.worc.ac.uk/LTMain/Rowland...elOutline.html

If you want to investigate other models then searching with Google and
using words like "McGuffie" and "Budyko" will help to keep the number of
hits to a reasonable value.

Cheers, Alastair.
