It is much less spectacular than the storm at this time last Monday when we had hail, mostly pea sized but some as big as marbles. Just a quick mention about these storms, flying on a 737 from Lanzarote to
Humberside airport we were flying near the west coast of France at about 11.15am today, quite an uncomfortable 20 minutes of flight with turbulance. I was flying with Air Europa and the pilots gave no information of our exact location. I enjoy reading these posts but have very little knowledge of cloud formations, but these formations looked stunning at high altitude but I have to admit that I felt much better when the plane touched down at 12.30pm. Looked most impressive from train somewhere between Paris and Pas de Calais about 1530 local or 1730Z. Cu-Nim towering to W and solid dark cloud to E. No doubt it will get to us [Godalming] in due course. Met Office, I think, forecast on Sunday evening that Paris would get T/storms Thursday. -- Peter Thomas |
