Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for 12z on Tuesday. Issued 0558z,
24/06/05. The models continue to show warm conditions aloft over England and Wales, with Scotland and Northern Ireland eventually seeing warmer conditions as high pressure builds next week. Meanwhile the far south of England will be seeing cloudier skies by midweek, with a good chance of rain from nearby low pressure. As ever, more runs are needed. ECMWF: http://64.246.48.81/pics/Recm1201.gif High pressure covers the North Sea, leading to southerlies for Scotland, variable winds for Northern Ireland and easterlies elsewhere. A trough approaches Ireland at T+144, leading to southerlies for most areas. By T+168 the trough deepens over northern Scotland, while the rest of the UK lies under westerlies. MetO: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rukm1201.html Easterlies and SE'lies cover the UK, with low pressure over France and a high east of Scotland. The high builds NE'wards at T+144, leaving Scotland under a ridge and bringing easterlies for all. GFS: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/pslv_frame.htm Two lows lie to the SW and SE of the UK, with high pressure east of Scotland. This results in easterlies and SE'lies over the UK, with 850hPa temperatures from +9C over northern Scotland to +15C over southern England. Easterlies persist over much of England and Wales at T+144, with southerlies elsewhere. Day 7 sees a trough over England and Wales and there's little change on day 8 - winds are light elsewhere. By day 9 an Atlantic low deepens across Scotland, bringing NW'lies and westerlies for the UK, with more of the same on day 10. Ensembles: http://217.160.75.104/pics/MT8_London_ens.png The London ensembles show warm conditions aloft persisting for over a week, although by next Wednesday it currently looks like turning quite wet due to nearby low pressure. GEM: http://www.meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html The Canadian run shows easterlies and ESE'lies, again with high pressure to the north. The high declines over Norway at T+144, leaving the UK under light easterlies and SE'lies. GME/DWD: http://www.wetter.com/home/img/sat/g...240000_120.gif Easterlies cover the UK with high pressure over Scotland. There's little change at T+144. JMA: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rjma1201.html The Japanese run is very similar, showing a ridge over Scotland and Northern Ireland with easterlies elsewhere. Scotland lies under southerlies at T+144 as the ridge becomes a high to the east, while easterlies persist over England and Wales. NOGAPS: http://wetterzentrale.com/pics/Rngp1201.gif High pressure covers the UK with light winds for all. The high moves NE'wards at T+144, introducing SE'lies. KMA: http://www.kma.go.kr/kma03/gif/g21nh_smsr_120.gif The Korean output shows easterlies over the UK with high pressure across Scotland. |
