Interesting evening last night - was on duty 1900 onwards. Saw the
radar echoes but noted that whilst it was mighty close, just west of Blandford might escape but have a grandstand view instead. And so it was. But a colleague was absolutely certain we would get a good dowsing of rain so it was worth a bet-and very luckily I won it (this time). It was a bit disappointing though- I was thinking of the Martinstown event and wondering... In the morning a few rumbles etc produced 7mm and this was short lived (though recorded a rate just below 90mm per hour). The next line rather gave up the ghostI think and we had a little rain at lunchtime, Better 'luck' next Thursday then! ATB R |
