Apart from a rumble around 13:00 today, nothing much else and it has been
quite hot and sticky. At 18:00 the rain arrived followed by thunder and
lightning. Not a lot, but its already cooling down. At this point in time,
the dog is trying to get into the space behind my PC... he is not keen on
these events.

Something of a puzzle ... the lightning detector at
http://www.nowcast.co.uk//lightning/index.htm appears to agree with the TS
in Chigwell whilst that at
http://www.isleofwightweather.co.uk/live_storm_data.htm only shows activity
east of the IOW along the south coast. Is this just a ranging issue?

My dog's the same and usually senses these events before I do.

If they are so clever why do they pick the most dangerous places to
hide?

Or have they been misinformed about earthing wires?

Actually dogs are not afraid of thunder. I had a couple that used to
hide the same way when indoors but outside it was "lampost inspection
duties" as per normal.

So if it's claustophbia why not clamour at the door?
