I've noticed that northwesterly-quarter (W to N) winds tend to change
their characteristics in midsummer compared to the rest of the year. In May, a NW tends to produce bright sunshine and the odd heavy shower, it's quite cool but feels quite pleasant. Such Once we get to early July, however, they are very different, the space between the shower clouds tends to fill in with overcast and they produce unpleasantly cool weather with little sunshine. They rarely occur at all mid July to mid August, a period when temps rarely fall below 20C in the south-east. They tend to reappear late August and September when they become quite pleasant once again, rather autumnal but again, like May, tending to be bright with the odd heavy shower. Nick |
