The sky to the south is very threatening, there's a huge amount of rain
on the UKMO radar, and I've seen a few scattered flashes of fairly
spectacular lightning. Heard no definite thunder yet (odd with the
lightning), but I stepped outside a few minutes ago and thought I heard
some extremely distant rumbling.

Distant rumbling here in Bolton as well.
Just got back from London on the train and around 7.30 just grazed
some storms in the Tamworth - Nuneaton area. A couple of good
c-g strikes but we didn't really pass through the storms proper, they
were still to the SW. Outran them after that and there is still broken
cloud to the north.
