Default Short lived active storms

Very electrically active short lived thunderstorms racing by this evening
from SE to NW. They seem to be forming over the high ground just to the
south east of me. I have had to turn the computer off twice. Extremely loud
thunder and intense bursts of rain but not lasting much more than 5 minutes
and not showing up too well on radar. The wind at mid level is around 40
knots or so. Rainfall only 5mm due to their brevity.

They've been passing fairly sharpish through here most of the evening, too.

Interestingly, all the lightning seems to be cloud-to-cloud, I've seen no
cloud-to-ground at all.

The thunder has not been loud, either, even though it's overhead - sort of
lightweight, long drawn out stuff. Rather odd, really.

Deluge during the first brief episode, but not much rain since.

Default Short lived active storms

Ive just driven back from Staines, where there was torrential rain/floods
and lightning.
Onto the M25 at Chertsey - dry for a while and then big drops more
torrential rain to J10.
Dry on A3 past Wisley and at home the ground is dry. However, it has rained
here but non-recordable...

Rainfall from yesterday's storms was 4.5mm, but largeish hail fell ( 5mm)
briefly at 2030GMT.
