Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for 12z on Tuesday. Issued 0549z,
1/07/05. The models are somewhat mixed today, although they all show the general theme of a trough from the west affecting the UK. The GFS in particular paints an unsettled and cool picture, whereas other runs (such as MetO) would keep things largely dry for southern and eastern areas. As ever, more runs are needed. ECMWF: http://64.246.48.81/pics/Recm1201.gif Low pressure covers the UK with light winds for all. The low deepens and moves eastwards at T+144, allowing NNW'lies to cover the UK. A weak trough covers much of the UK at T+168 and this leads to northerlies and NW'lies. MetO: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rukm1201.html The UK lies between a trough to the west and a ridge to the east, with WSW'lies for all. The trough moves swiftly eastwards at T+144, leaving the UK under westerlies. GFS: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/pslv_frame.htm As with ECM the UK lies under a low, although this time the low is part of complex low pressure to the north. 850hPa temperatures vary from +2C over NW Scotland to +7C over SW England. The lows merge and deepen over the North Sea at T+144, resulting in strong easterlies for Scotland with northerlies and WNW'lies elsewhere. T+168 sees the low slowly fill over the North Sea, with NW'lies and westerlies for the UK. A new low lies to the west at T+192, leaving the UK under light and variable winds. The low deepens across the UK on day 9 and by day 10 the UK lies under light northerlies as the low fills over the North Sea. Ensembles: http://217.160.75.104/pics/MT8_London_ens.png The ensembles continue to show temperatures aloft rising until Sunday, then falling sharply by Tuesday. Thereafter they slowly rise aagin, with some rain. GEM: http://www.meteocentre.com/models/glb00_120.html The Canadian run shows a ridge and light winds over the UK. By T+144 a trough brings southerlies to Scotland and westerlies to Northern Ireland, with light winds elsewhere. GME/DWD: http://www.wetter.com/home/img/sat/g...010000_120.gif Unavailable today. JMA: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rjma1201.html SW'lies cover the UK with a trough to the west. The trough moves across the UK at T+144 with NW'lies following behind. NOGAPS: http://wetterzentrale.com/pics/Rngp1201.gif Westerlies and SW'lies cover the UK with a ridge to the south and a trough over Scotland. Complex low pressure dominates the UK at T+144, bringing SW'lies and SSW'lies for much of England and Wales. KMA: http://www.kma.go.kr/kma03/gif/g21nh_smsr_120.gif Wsterlies cover the UK as the result of a ridge over Biscay. |
