Default Thunderstorms in Athens

Good evening, everyone.

After the early afternoon thunderstorm that mostly hit the northern suburbs,
the western horizon started to darken, while it was obvious that there was
some rotation to my east, too:
http://www.e-kairos.com/misc/rotation.wmv (speed 2x)

Soon, it started to rain like mad while I heard some of the loudest claps of
thunder I can remember, as some lightning hit the ground only about 100 m
from my house -judging by the sound lag. Maximum intensity was 304.8 mm/h @
1608 EEST so the streets turned to rivers:

This is a map of today's rainfall totals that were not too high, as most of
the rain fell in no time:

Yannis, SE Athens
from 34C to 18C (y'day afternoon and this afternoon)
Today's rain: 34.0 mm
