Hi Steven
Yesterday there was very little by way of wind, so fohn assisted temperatures can be ruled out. Today the breeze is generally from the west, so any fohn effect would show up in the east of Scotland. Generally its the middle of the country thats been experiencing the highest temperatures (although there's no metars to report this on xc weather) Today it was 80f (26.7șC) here at midday for example. You may find the map near the bottom of this page more useful than xcweather for current temperatures in central & Southern Scotland... http://www.alex114.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/current.html all the best. Yesterday there was very little by way of wind, so fohn assisted temperatures can be ruled out. Today the breeze is generally from the west, so any fohn effect would show up in the east of Scotland. This wind is measured at what height? I have noticed that we very rarely have a breeze that will do much more than waft the leaves around where I live, yet I am certain there must be some above the tree tops. When I lived on the coast the wind was very much in evidence. (I was close enough to the sea there, that I could tell the time from the sound of the waves on the berm.) Yet a mile inland -in the town of Abergele there was hardly any wind (in comparison.) I dare say it was a lot windier than here but I have no real memory. By the bye, is the Helm wind related to this? Someone save me looking, there's a dear. -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |
