Default Catastrophe scenario for a movie

Hero(ine) makes a presentation at a global warming conference: predicts
that melting of Antarctic glaciers will lead to dramatic isotactic
recovery further raising sea levels. Cites increased seismic activity.

of methyl groups in (for example) polypropylene.
