Default Today's model interpretation (Christmas Eve 2004)

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Tuesday. Issued
0600z, Christmas Eve 2004.

The models persist in showing a zonal outlook, albeit with snow at times
over the Scottish mountains.

Strong westerlies cover the UK, with a low to the NE of Iceland and a high
to the east of the Azores. A secondary low zooms eastwards over the UK at
T+144 to bring WNW'lies and westerlies, followed by further westerlies at
T+168.

The Met Office run shows zonal westerlies over the UK at T+120 and T+144,
with a trough moving across the UK at T+132.

GFS: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/
The UK lies under a westerly flow, with a weak ridge over southern England.
850hPa temperatures vary from -5C over Scotland to +4C over Cornwall. The
winds become WNW'lies at T+144 as a trough moves swiftly eastwards, followed
by WSW'lies as another weak ridge crosses the UK. Westerlies asssociated
with a low to the north affect the UK on day 8, with further westerlies on
days 9 and 10.

A large high lies to the east of the Azores and this leads to WSW'lies
across the UK.

Strong NW'lies cover the UK, with a trough over the North Sea. The winds

NOGAPS shows zonal westerlies for the UK, albeit with sub 528dam air over
northern Scotland.

the Azores High to the SW.
