6.9 mm of rain here between 1700z and 1715z according to the Davis VP.
The manual gauge will probably give about 10 percent higher. The Davis VP says the max rate (between bucket tips) was 116 mm/hr. It certainly was chucking it down. Still raining slightly at 1718z but the sky is rapidly brightening to the west. Norman. (delete "thisbit" twice to e-mail) -- Norman Lynagh Weather Consultancy Chalfont St Giles 85m a.s.l. England |

Hi Norman, I'm not a million miles from your good self and I have recorded 4.5mm in my gauge which was just emptied and now skies certainly becoming much brighter (1840BST) Large puddles on the side roads around the downs particularly north of Andover and Newbury but a fair total which nevertheless must have been gratefully received by our garden and its wildlife, I would think. Tony Newbury, Berkshire Something like 17c now but still slightly muggy. |
