Cloud cover for most of the day kept the temperature well depressed here - 21.9C was the high at 17:05pm, but the temperature didn't actually rise above 20C until after 4pm. -- Jonathan Stott Canterbury Weather: http://www.canterburyweather.co.uk/ Reverse my e-mail address to reply by e-mail |

The highest half hourly METAR at Southampton A/P (12 miles inland) was 24 deg C so a probable max there not exceeding 25. My own maximum (5 miles inland from Solent) was 25 degrees C +/- 0.5, albeit in a shaded screen. Such discrepancies make me nervous. The wind direction at Solent was W to NW during the afternoon so the maximum there should have been close to that at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton - does anyone have access to Thursday's climatological data from there? I'd love to find out what their maximum was. -- Dave Fareham |

I was surprised by how warm it got, too. 26.7C here. -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham |
