Having looked at 500hPa and 850hPa charts for a while I thought I was
getting a bit of the hang of it. Then the BBC News 24 latest forecast gives Tmax for Xmas day for the S.Midlands and S.E as 5C and 7C for the same areas on Boxing Day which I thought looked colder for these areas. Oh well, back to the drawing board! Dave |

Thanks Jon, they are terrific, as was the precipitation animation you posted
the other day. I see the higher temp for Boxing Day is late on, presumably as the warmer air starts to filter through. This url now firmly cemented into my ever growing weather favourites folder. ....PS - also the hPa vs temp graphic shows clearly why current air (10.2C,
constant) temp here is not falling yet while the upper air is cooling, as seen on the GFS charts etc. "Dave.C" wrote in message k...
