I find it hard to beleive some of the Bombay rainfall totals from the
synops. Can anyone confirm or not whether this is correct or not?

Most of the soundings are highly unstable yielding thousands of CAPE, not
surprising given the season. One I have found from N. India has just shy of
7000J/kg !

Keith's figure looks to be correct then.
Astonishing amounts of rainfall. I had no idea a metre of rain was possible
in one day. Even in high monsoon.

Bombay = Mumbai of course. 944 mm in 24 hours, 2 1/2 times the previous
daily record !

I thought he was querying the 13mm figure. The other stuff seemed more
reasonable for the area. Was there a typhoon coming ashore?
