A client of mine has asked me what the weather was like in Jan/Feb in
the Western Med. as he is thinking of bringing his family over for a cruise; Savona--Rome--Cairo--Limassol--Rhodes--Izmir--Athens--Olympia I've surfed the web and sent him the average temps which has worried him as he thought it would be warmer than that... He lives in Los Angeles. He has written back asking what the highs tend to be and I've looked but cannot find the information I'm looking for. Does anyone have a link to a web site that will contain the highs for Jan/Feb in the West Med? TIA -- Wendy Tinley http://www.theigloo.co.uk/ |

Bear in mind they're only averages, it could be warmer or cooler (has been known to snow in Athens at least). Edmund |

My sister has spent many years sailing around the Med, she said that the
western Med in the winter is notorious for storms and many times she had to cancel sailing trips due to bad weather, and when the Mistral is blowing it can get very cold as well. Just keep your fingers crossed for fine weather but I would take the woollies. ________________ Nick G Exe Valley, Devon 50 m amsl "Wendy Tinley" wrote in message ... There seems to be some confusion about whether this thread relates to the western Med or the eastern Med! Apart from possibly Savona, the Mistral would not affect the weather at the ports mentioned by the OP. Regards, Roger |

You're right! Those places are more central & eastern Med.
Still, it can get pretty stormy anywhere in the Med during the winter. I was in Cyprus in May once and we had a big storm, the sea was mountainous and many fishing boats were smashed on the beaches, also it was very cold - and that was May! ________________ Nick G Exe Valley, Devon 50 m amsl "Roger Smith" wrote in message ... writes There seems to be some confusion about whether this thread relates to the western Med or the eastern Med! You are quite right and it is all my fault... of course I should have said Eastern Med not Western... what a plonker... as penance I shall not drink alcohol tonight... you believe me?.. ;-) Thanks all for your responses... my client seems to be quickly going off the idea! -- Wendy Tinley http://www.theigloo.co.uk/ |
