================================================== ===============
This forecast summary is my *PERSONAL OPINION* of how the weather may unfold next week. I will take no responsibility whatsoever for any actions arising from its use. It is provided freely in the spirit of freedom and the great love for meteorology that I personally enjoy and wish to share freely with others. ================================================== =============== Summary valid for Sunday 14/08/05 to Saturday 20/08/05 TOI (time of issue) Friday 12/08/05 1000 UK local time This summary is based on a quick appraisal of the GFS, JMA, ECMWF, UKMO, FAX, and ENS (NCEP ensemble) labelled charts available from the superb http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten Confidence high for beginning of week then turning moderate but low for thunderstorms in SW later. After a cool and showery period in the east on Sunday the first half of next week up to Wednesday looks like being dominated by high pressure in the south and low pressure to the north. This means a predominantly west to southwest airflow with light winds over England and Wales and stronger winds, moderate to fresh over Scotland and northern Ireland. England and Wales mainly dry with sunny periods and sea breezes and generally warm with temperatures into the 20s Celsius. Scotland and northern Ireland will be more cloudy with a lot of dry weather too but also spells of rain, most likely in northern Scotland where it could be heavy at times. Temperatures above normal and rather warm at times. From Wednesday onwards high pressure looks like dominating the whole of the British Isles for a time, and with the winds turning into a more southerly direction it will become warmer and perhaps hot in the south with temperatures reaching the 30s Celsius. Meanwhile pressure will tend to fall to the southwest later turning the winds into the southeast meaning some east coast areas will turn cooler with the hottest weather transferring westwards. Also an increasing risk (40%) of heavy thundertstorms with torrential downpours moving up from the SW by the weekend. However, at this stage the emphasis should be on dry and fine weather next week. Normal service seems about to resume over Spain, with a shallow low
pressure centred there. Hot during the day and the risk of late afternoon/evening thunderstorms, is my prediction. |

Thanks Will & Colin :-) The Costa Blanca and other parts of Spain have had more cloud and storms over the last two weeks. One thing is for certain, it won't be cold ;-) -- Keith (Southend) 'Weather Home & Abroad' http://www.southendweather.net |

There's nothing better than a bit of thunder and lightning. (Especially as up here in Cumbria we don't seem to get any!!) Liam. |
