A fine, sunny day with plenty of blue skies although not overly warm
for the time of year with a max of 17.9C. There has been a lot of sun here during the past 6 days, making up for the exceptionally dull middle of the month. This time last week (having seen a grim weekend forecast from the BBC that turned out to be utter rubbish - just like the graphics they use) I thought it could be the dullest August for 25 years but near average monthly sunshine is now likely. The heavy rain forecast for last night failed to materialise with only 0.8mm falling in total. Monthly rain total stands at just 16.2mm (average for Aberdeen in August is around 60mm). Richard Slessor, Aberdeen. |
