It started around 8pm with light rain which became sporadic with sudden,
short-lived bursts of very heavy rain interspersed with dry interludes. AFAICT, the lightning was 99% C-C and looked & sounded like high mid to upper level stuff. The thunder was unusually loud & bumpy considering the height & distance. Pretty active with flashes about every 4-5 secs or so. At least 3 cells active at any one time, and this continued until approx. 21.45 when it all moved away to the north/north-east. This makes TWO night-time storms this year in High Wycombe - the first time for MANY years that we've had two at night, and only the second night-time storm since July 3 1999!! Nigel Aagh! Every time I learn something new... it pushes something old out of my brain! |
