The old September record of 24.1บC has just been exceeded here minutes ago.
It truely is a strange heat outside this morning. 80บf is probably on the cards here this afternoon. Quite exceptional! One of the warmest days of the year; we didn't even reach 20C for the whole of August. -- Steve Loft, Wanlockhead, Dumfriesshire. 1417ft ASL Weather and webcam: http://www.wanlockhead.org.uk/ |

Earlier on today I remarked that I thought it would be unlikely that my September temperature record of 25.5C would be broken. At this rate I should easily surpass this. A temperature of 22.2 with a RH of 82% gives a dew-point of about 19C which is way too high. The airmass dew-point looks to be around 14-15C. I've thought for a while that your RH values looked on the high side. Norman. (delete "thisbit" twice to e-mail) -- Norman Lynagh Weather Consultancy Chalfont St Giles 85m a.s.l. England |

The 1200z observation from Bishopton gives a dew-point of 15.2C. The latest I have from Greenock MRSC (0900z) had a dew-point of 14.2C. I would expect your dew-point to be in the same ball-park as those. A temperature of 22.2C with a dew-point of 15.0C gives a RH of 64%. Norman. At 1200z Eskdalemuir reported a temperature of 23.0C with a dew-point of 11.5C. This gives a RH of 48%. Norman. It does seem to register 100% very readily but then I would expect that here :-) I don't know the conditions at Bishopton or Greenock. The ground here is still very wet from the rain on Wednesday evening and I've commented in other posts that conditions in this part of the world can vary markedly within a few miles. Perhaps just treat my humidity readings as suspect. -- Alan White Twenty-eight miles NW of Glasgow, overlooking Loch Goil and Loch Long in Argyll, Scotland.
